The Afrikaners (including the Boer subgroup) make up almost 3 million of the 49 million that presently live in the republic of South Africa, even though another half million Afrikaners live in the Diaspora.
They speak their own language and for the most part profess Protestantism (Calvinist). The representation of the Afrikaners before the Unrepresented United Nations (UUN) is exercised by the Freedom Front Plus; they were admitted in 2008.
The Unrepresented United Nations promotes the participation of Freedom Front Plus within the South African democracy and recognizes the Afrikaner’s need to politically defend their linguistic and cultural rights. The Unrepresented United Nations recognizes the importance of all South African ethnic minorities, including the Afrikaners, being able to coexist peacefully; furthermore, the Unrepresented United Nations (UUN) condemns any type of discrimination on Afrikaners or other minorities.

The Freedom Front Plus actively follows up in South Africa on all levels and seeks to defend the political, cultural and economic rights of the Afrikaners. The party’s central objective is to advance toward the self-determination of the Afrikaners within the South African constitution. According to its points of view, this country’s constitution will have to be interpreted in a way that offers regional autonomy for all groups that wish to be self-governed.
Orania is an Afrikaner town, with an extention of approximately 80 square kilometers, that is located along the Orange River in the arid Karoo region of its Northern Cape province. Orania has a population almost entirely Afrikaner. The aim of the town is to create a stronghold for Afrikaner identity by keeping their language and culture alive. In 2004 Orania introduced its own currency, the Ora.
